This ...

I agree, especially regarding that saying. This has been the case for me lately--God has finally gotten through to me regarding a major change I have to make. I know it's a change for the better, a change He wills for me, but I also get sad and scared because I know the transition has been and will continue to be painful. He's finally led me to realize that, although I might think my old habits are okay and I might feel more comfortable in them sometimes, ultimately they're selfish, sinful, and thus are causing me harm and heartache, and so I need to rely fully on Him to see me through the pain involved in changing. The difficulties will be manageable with Him at my side, and in the journey I will hopefully learn to die to myself, realizing my utter dependence on Him. When I finally make it through to the "changed" side, I know it will have been worth the struggle.

Some verses that bring comfort amid worry and change: Philippians 4:6-7 ("Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus," and 4:13 ("I can do everything through him who gives me strength").

-elsa

I would add that people don't like change because ...

I would add that people don't like change because of the struggle in those transistions, not the transitions themselves.
