Making Every Day a Mission Trip

My daughter Abbey and I were having a conversation today reflecting on her time this past week at "Fast Break" (a Student Venture conference for high schoolers over New Year's).  What a blessing to talk with your kids about things that really matter.  We were trying to figure out what makes the worship times and devotional times at these kinds of retreats/ conferences so inspiring and meaningful.

In addition to the awesome music, relevant lyrics that speak to kids who are immersed in music, the main discovery we made was that worship in these moments is so meaningful because the kids have been focused 24/7 on God and what He has for them.

Attentive Worshippers Yield Life-Changing Worship
One of the phrases we like to use at the Church is "Live each day like a mission trip."  These conferences/ retreats are like mission trip experiences.  During these extended periods of time everyone is attentive to the things of God.  They are focused from start of day to end of day on the Word of God and are devoted to living in community with others who are the same journey.  They check in at the end of the day and consider what God had shown them throughout the day.  They pray with each other.  They have extended periods of unhurried time with the ordinary distractions of life removed.

So, what I've been asking myself as a result of my conversation with Abbey is CAN WE live each day like a mission trip?  Is it possible to maintain our focus and devotion on Jesus and His Kingdom throughout the entire day?  Is it possible to maintain this focus over time?  Or is this only doable at conferences, retreats, and mission trips?

As a Jesus-follower, what do you do that helps you "live each day as a mission trip?"

Start the day in His Word....even if it means the kids are running around like crazies during it :)
