Bee Barf

I met the "bee lady" today. She joined us in the sauna at the health club. I was in the middle of a conversation with another gentleman. We were discussing/ comparing notes about injuries when she suggested that "honey" might help.

One thing led to another and before long she was telling me about her 10-year journey with raising bees. I was struck by her passion for this work. It really didn't seem like work to her at all. Now, I really don't have much interest in honey, or in bees for that matter. In fact, I guess if I think about it long enough, I would say that those little creatures have really kind of annoyed me. But, as I sat in that sauna today, I must say, her passion for bees kind of rubbed off.

Have you ever noticed how contagious passion is? I love listening to people talk about something they care deeply about. It draws me in. It holds my attention.

I've been thinking alot this morning since my conversation with the "bee lady" (Sue). Do people get drawn in when I share my passion of "connecting people to life in Jesus"? Is my passion, er, God's passion for me contagious? When I talk about Jesus, does it hold people's attention?

I think I might just order some honey!

It Lingers!

I am in the middle of re-doing my office. Transitions can be painful. The in-between times in life can be hard for impatient people. Vision is a lot like that! You can see the future so clearly. The reality of the future is palpable, yet you're not there. It lingers. It sits somewhere off in the distance.

The vision for my office was in my head. I could see clearly a comfortable place where I could enjoy people (My 2010 Motto is "Enjoy People-Abandon Outcomes") and be inspired to keep working toward the vision of the transformation of the spiritual landscape of Madison. I wanted my space to assist and contribute toward that vision and not hinder it.

Today I spent some time looking and re-evaluating the nearly final renderings of my office. It's a static drawing of what could be. It's still a way off. But, we're making progress. If you stopped by today for a visit, you could see evidence that the vision is becoming a reality. Yet, we're not quite there. That would be quite obvious!

It's the vision, though, that keeps me going!
