I met the "bee lady" today. She joined us in the sauna at the health club. I was in the middle of a conversation with another gentleman. We were discussing/ comparing notes about injuries when she suggested that "honey" might help.
One thing led to another and before long she was telling me about her 10-year journey with raising bees. I was struck by her passion for this work. It really didn't seem like work to her at all. The topic just rolled off her tongue so naturally. Kind of like honey! You can check out her local business at www.beebarfhoney.com Yes, honey is bee barf! It's amazing what you can learn in the sauna.
Now, I really don't have much interest in honey, or in bees for that matter. In fact, I guess if I think about it long enough, I would say that those little creatures have really kind of annoyed me. But, as I sat in that sauna today, I must say, her passion for bees kind of rubbed off.
Have you ever noticed how contagious passion is? I love listening to people talk about something they care deeply about. It draws me in. It holds my attention.
I've been thinking alot this morning since my conversation with the "bee lady" (Sue). Do people get drawn in when I share my passion of "connecting people to life in Jesus"? Is my passion, er, God's passion for me contagious? When I talk about Jesus, does it hold people's attention?
I think I might just order some honey!

I agree that passion is contagious. Whenever I'm around people who are passionate about what they are doing or about something or someone, I catch, at least a bit, of that passion.
For example, when I was invited by friends to attend a Green Bay Packer game with them, I could physically feel the passion that this football team's fans have. It almost made me want to cheer for the Packers.
Almost. I mean, let's be real. I'm more passionate about my football team (which isn't the Packers). But their passion was contagious!
Being passionate about Christ is contagious - which is what the Book of Acts in the Bible shows most clearly.
